This is a very antique Qashqai rug. Woven on the last quarter of the 19th century. A collector´s and also a nice decorative rug for who will appreciate a shabby chic piece. It shows the three medallions classical design of the tribes of the Fars province. The upper and lower medallion feature a beautiful deep red, in the center a rosette with the ´Sun Chariot´ design, an ancient symbol of eternal life related to the swastika and it´s meaning to Budhism. The central medallion shows in its center a cross motif. All there medallions bear the so called “Qashqai Emblem”, that derivate from ancient motifs. There are different theories about its origins, any the case it has been transformed in a distinctive feature of this tribes. The system guard has in it center a variant of the guard ´stareh donbaledar´ (comet star) on ivory color. The secondary guards are the so called ´pandje ogabi´. The field is filled with tribal rosettes and rare arrangements of twin geometric botheh. The frame around the field, on ivory color, displays an array of beautiful multicolored shrubs, particularly attractive are the ones on the four corners of the piece.
Wool pile knotted on wool foundation. Small outer guard missing on both ends. Foundation visible, particularly on a center vertical section, about this particularity, the back of the rug looks better than the front, low pile. Still an attractive piece.
