183 cm x 130 cm
A very attractive and decorative tribal antique rug, woven in the Kasak region of the Caucasus on Late 19th century- Early 20th
century, with a wonderfully balanced palette of natural dyes: a skillful combination of earth tones with a light to deep blue with
characteristic abrash on the field, enhanced by an intense madder red on the stepped pseudo – medallions. The Borders system is
formed by the magnificent main guard of serrated leaves, framed by two minor borders with traditional “S” motifs alternated with
four lobbed motifs, also present on the field. Two splendidly synthetized animals on the field, add tribal charm.
Even low pile, 3% visible foundation, a few knot rows missing on both ends, both ends secured fair condition for its age.
